Awesome. september next year for full digital switchover and HD.
Now, when are the DVB-T2 tuners going to start appearing? Dual tuner PCIe card please!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Ugh one of the last to be updated... How I hate the government (as everything which goes wrong has to be there fault)
In the interests of fairness, couldn't they do the HD rollout in reverse order compared to the BT 21CN rollout.
August 2010. Not too shabby
As I'm Berkshire and its listed as 2010 for partial coverage and the remainder for 2011 it leaves me a bit in limbo
Yay for March - I preume it doesn't mean Leeds/Bradford only for the Emley Moor group as I live directly across the valley from Emley Moor mast and Leeds is over 10 miles away.
Looks like I am waiting for a TV and BD/DVD-Recorder with integrated DVB-T2 tuners rather than buying them over Christmas.
Im still baffled how the start transmitting without a single dvb-t2 tuner being available. im more than happy to upgrade my nova-t-500 for a new one... live in london, its going to be a frustrating wait for the cards to show up.
Well the how is easy, they just start. The why is more important. They will have people driving or walking about with test equipment to see how well the new transmitters are working, reporting back, tweeking settings etc.
This wasn't done before Freeview was launched because it rose from the ashes of OnDigital. This would have been done before OnDigital was released though. They could just send out test signals, but as they have the HD feeds going to Sky and Freesat anyway, they may as well test the system that takes the feed from Broadcasting House (in BBCs case) and pumps it out to the transmitters.
There has also been HD test STBs sent to people around Crystal Palace over the last couple of years. These people will presumably get early access to the HD transmissions before the products are commercially available.
Same for me, I am in Manchester but have no way of getting the signal on 2nd December.
Why bother?
Errr, so we can't receive this on our PCs without buying a new usb stick,
and noone has realsed a suitable one yet ?
