Excellent review, it will be interesting to see what they start retailing for. Hopefully they will come in at £275 or so, while I couldn't justify the extra £85 or so from the 5870, or £130 over the GTX460 1Gb. It gives buyers, who are willing, an excellent incremental step up in performance for a realistic and cost effective price (when considered within this performance range). This card represents a performance level just over the bell curve which I suspect a lot of enthusiasts would be willing to fork out for, and why not if yuo can afford!
Let's see what the red team can offer in response
scan has the palit gtx 570 for £277.97 and ebuyer have the palit gtx 570 for £279.00 both pre order
Probably just me being stupid, but what's a Triple-A game?
Great to see the power draw figures lower, great looking card.
Triple-A game is industry shorthand for a truly excellent, must-have title. The PC needs genuinely brilliant games to justify the expense of high-end cards. Xbox 360 and PS3 both have quality exclusive titles.

It's the game equivalent of your summer blockbuster - a large budget game that is designed to be (and might only be profitable if) bought by a large portion of the market.
We need popular games to push the boundaries to make these kind of cards make sense - think Crysis. It's not good if the only games that push graphics are small affairs that not many people buy (like Metro 2033), or if the AAA games use outdated graphics (like most of them).
If digital publishing really gains traction we might see an improvement. Otherwise we'll have to wait till the next gen of consoles comes out.

Right, so console ports that are very popular (triple-A in that sense) but run at 100fps at 2560x1440 4xAA don't count then. I see. Makes sense
yeah, it would be great if they made a COD game with say the graphics of crysis... it makes no sense as the last 3(i think) games since Modern Warfare have only really been "mods" i.e reskins and some changes here and there, that used to be free!. Shame they couldnt take that year of "development" and actually improve the graphics a huge amount.
If companies actually made the effort to make use of pc hardware then they probably would increase their sales incredibly, obviously crysis did bad even though i loved it.. maybe being too excellent for its time in graphics. Oh well..
Sadly the opposite at the moment - more console players are willing to buy more games than PC gamers, so every $ of development is better spent increasing console revenue than PC revenue. Build a game with console limitations in mind and you can also sell it on the PC. Build for dx10/11 and you still have to create a dx9 version for consoles.
yeah i know , its just sad that theres so few that will see past the consoles = most money routine. Maybe the solution is for microsoft/sony/nintendo to actually say what type of spec their new consoles will be, then companies can develop games for pc using say DX11 (or 10..) and then they will be able to use their new technologies effectively as soon as the console is released .
Too optimistic i know , however crytek might still be able to do what they did with crysis and crysis 2 may have even better graphics! Unless its a direct port...
Nothing annoys me more than when my friends tell me how great the graphics are on their xbox 360s which AFAIK still run pre ATI 3000 series Graphics.
if i remember rightly the xbox and ps3 use chips equivalent to the performance of a geforce 7800 card.... so yeah not very good, even a 2000 amd chip would have been better albeit it was a disaster compared to the 8800 series :L
Like everyone is saying this sounds like an amazing piece of tech but what is the point!? Actually glad my order for a Hd5850 got cancelled and I am stuck with my 512mb HD 4850. All the games i play (which are all ports) automaticallly put graphics/textures etc on high or extra high! My housemate came in once while I was playing fallout3 and told me it looked amazing on my mid range graphics card from 2 generations ago compared to how it looked on his xbox360.
What a joke ... are developers just stupid or lazy!? do they not realise there is a massive untapped market!?
Same thing goes for microsoft and sony not offering a decent mouse and keyboard option for their consoles ... just madness.
Just gonna run my 4850 into the ground until I really need a new graphics card.
This card still doesnt offer a big enough boost over the last generation, I wish I could justify a purchase because I have the money ready but looking at the games I play for example black ops, it doesnt seem to hit the spot for me
