Game - Battlefield 3 has been one of the best games for me this year but it has also made me very angry & I've bashed my desk, wall & keyboard ! A game hasn't done that to me in ages... Love the environment & the quality of the game play.
Tech - My HTC Desire HD, the mobile extension of my PC. Just need Hexus to get a Android app for the forum's & my PC would only be used for gaming (eek)...
My Gigabyte HD6950 OC, very quiet and fast. Enabled me to play Shogun 2 and Fallout:New Vegas at maximum settings(1920x1080); they have been my most played, and enjoyed, games this year.
I can't actually decide on this one as in my 1 main purchase this year I got a heck of a lot of new hardware.
I would say the 2500K for being such a great over clocker on the P8Z68-V PRO motherboard and giving awesome performance for the price, or I would say it would be SSD drives as they've given such a boost in performance and now I want to add a third to my PC.
Then there is the MSI GTX 570 twin frozr PE/OC which happily runs at 870 MHz as opposed to its default clock speed of 770 MHz or even the Acer GD245HQ which looks great once you adjust the settings and make the colours look a heck of a lot better.
Argh... which one?
Battlefield 3, absolutely brilliant multi-player.
I upgraded my HTPC from a 2.5" laptop mechanical drive to a 64 GB Crucial SSD. It is like a breath of fresh air: silent and MUCH faster. (All my media resides on a NAS drive.)
And although you didn't ask, my biggest let down was the AMD Bulldozer release. I waited months and months, anxious to upgrade - read the benchmarks - and decided to stick with my oc'ed Phenom X6.
umm, tough cookie this one, been a big year for tech and me.
New TV, first AV amp, first Bluray player, 2nd Bluray player, 5.1 speakers, Tivo, Galaxy Wifi Tab, and pretty sure I bought the Popcorn Hour this year too...
Im going to have to say the whole lot
The Home Cinema project for me has been sheer joy, couple of setbacks in there, but the whole project came together very nicely in the end, (watched Harry Potter in 3D the other night, it was superb) I now have a base system that I can add to and improve on over the years. Probably the TV is my favourite aspect of it all, but it would be pointless if it was on its own.
My xbox is still my go to gadget tho, used virtually every night, currently for skyrim and mw3.
(I have a pure one flow wrapped up tho, but cant see it trumping the Home Cinema)
Game wise - BF3 - Its all i've played for months and I normally get and play a new game a week!
Hardware wise - A 64Gb Crucial SSD - Its made my three year old PC seem faster than I ever imagined a new i5 would. I wouldn't go with out one now.
Asus Transformer for me, time to take the fight to Apple!!
It's gotta be my i5 2500k and Asus P8Z68-v Pro motherboard, for the price I paid and the performance I get from them, it's amazing!
They're just an absolute dream to play BF3 on, which coincidentally, would be my Game of the Year.
1: kindle, havent read so much for a very long time
2: sandybridge setup, specifically the i5-2500k
battlefield 3 is the best game of the year
best purchase (because I'm a uni student) has to be my H60 or 60gb force 3 SSD from Corsair
i won a GTX560ti from Scan, that was by far the best thing, but I didn't buy it
1: Sandy Bridge 2500k
2: BF3 Amazing
