Those icons look familiar. Samsung had better get their lawyers ready, could be an IP breach!
According to CNetUK yesterday (http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/sams...eeps-50006770/) the much-anticipated Galaxy S3 isn't going to be at MWC - in which case Apple's a shoe-in for "best in show".Both the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 are likely to make an early appearance at the Mobile World Congress in February, where a host of other tablet makers, including HTC’s quad-core Android device, will be hoping to impress.
Not happy that the S3's been delayed (apparently to suit the US) since I was hoping to pick up a SIM Free one in July/August to replace my current phone.
According to this article, the new device is going to sport a 1.3mm thickness.. Would be very nice, but it's not gonna happen..
X10->S3 for me too, (and judging by the comments on some of the X10 owner forums Samsung could actually do an official "Trade Up Your X10" deal).
Interestingly enough consensus today seems to be that Samsung'll do a separate launch of the S3 at the same time as the iPhone5 official/public launch - mainly to flip the bird to Apple. Also saying that while it's 20/80 about an S3 announcement at MWC, Samsung are still making them to schedule - and wanting a later announcement so they can say "here's the S3 and you can buy it now". If it's as good as rumours suggest then they can have my £500+ for a pre-order.
April might be pushing it though (not that I've got any expertise) so there's always the HTC Edge - although I've heard mixed views about HTC phones. Tegra3 seems to be quite reasonable performance/battery wise.
Lots of interesting devices coming up at MWC, so maybe the iPhone5 won't have the easy victory that the earlier models have had. If HTC/Samsung can deliver the battery life improvements, then maybe they could steal that "most magical phone" title?
Freudian slit there? Slip, I meant slip.Apple has just enjoyed a fanatic start to the first fiscal quarter 2012, which runs from October to December 2011.
Anyone though that the S3 (or even the iphone 5) might be crap?
I'll see what happens. I've got tell the 14th of April when my contract expires! I'd go for an S2 but the girlfriend has it and it would be a little odd having matching phones! I'm sure something out there will take my fancy. I'd even go Sony as my X10 hasn't been bad since 2.3 update was released I'm just dismayed by the lack of mSD slot and replaceable battery on the latest models having replaced the battery and mSD card on my X10...
Can i just point out that the 4" screen size is the same as the Optimus 2x(come on, ignore the sgs2 ) so im pretty certain that LG will be the panel makers.
Basically a thinner O2x with a higher res screen, interesting... it will be an arm and a leg for it though!.
It's a possibility - more likely though that the new models might merely disappoint in one aspect or another. Most obviously - given that both iP5 and GS3 have (reputedly) more processor power - is that the battery life will be worse.
So even if those two are merely quad-core and/or faster-clocked versions of the previous models then they won't be crap, merely not living up to the expectations that've been set for them*. Speaking of that I'd argue that iP5 has more to prove, since most folks seem to have been expecting last years model to be the "5" rather than only (?) a tweaked version.
(* not likely seeing as a lot of people are also saying Apple and Samsung have new displays for this year's phones, and then there's all the tweaks to camera chips).
Surely longer and thinner would be copying Samsung, who owns the patents!
"Some reports suggest it could be 8mm thinner than the iPhone 4S." I'm guessing there should be a comma after 8mm? If not that rumour would place the iphone 5 around 1mm thick!!!!!!
Hmm, what is actually expected of the 5 from a performance perspective? The 4S brought dual-core (which I thought would've qualified for a '5' designation), is the 5 likely to double it? Well, not that it would make a big difference for me, I need a new phone as soon as possible.
So the ipad 2 will have a screen res of 2,048 x 1,536 and we still can't beat 1920x1080 on any desktop monitors under 27". Right.
