What is that strip that runs from the bottom left of the board up to the rear ports? Provision for some kind of shielding for the audio circuit?

I don't know about gamer look, gimpy look comes to mind. It also looks 'cheaper' than the GENE.

    Only 4 SATA ports?

Looks like one right at the bottom right too, so maybe 5? Pretty random number though!

My last few builds have been Gene based, if this is the competition then it either needs to be half the price or I'll carry on using the Gene boards..

What I want to know is will the x16 lanes run at x16/x16 or x8/x8 when populated!

It will run 16x or 8x/8x PCIE 3.0. Compared to PCIE 2.0 that's like 16x/16x. In theory..

Not so sure about Gene anymore. Bought Maximus IV Gene Z Z68 and looked at some crooked components and stickers. Doesn't give any confidence at all. Mind you the MB was handled, fingerprints all over (shop or ASUS factory?). Will buy Gene-z with Silverstone TJ08-e but if I get any prints or crooked components it's so going back.

Agree. 6x USB is tight, and, VGA?
