I feel they're too expensive...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
typo ? is it 20" or 10"....
at 5kg it will be 20in
No worse than their current VAIOs so no surprises here. Sony has always been a premium based on a loyal userbase who are willing to pay above the norm for the badge (Apple have thoroughly taken this crown!)
I can see Windows 8 being a huge flop for Microsoft if they don't start getting some competitive hardware coming out. There is nothing, absolutely nothing compelling about windows 8 on any platform at the moment.
That's a bit of a sweeping statement, I'm guessing you're outing it as opinion rather than fact.
It's compelling on the Surface tabs, in fact it's amazing on the tablets I've had a go with, it's just desktops where it takes some getting used to, and even that I've found to be awesome.
It won't be a flop either, people bought Vista and a majority in the tech community despised it (some having not even used it!), of course, I don't expect it to come close to Win7 sales but it's not going to be a flop.
Typo: better-or > better-off
Bad English: the line-up is shaping up to be one very expensive one indeed. Remove 'one's?
I hoped to use the word compelling so not to give the idea I think windows 8 is good or not good. I meant that Windows 8 is not selling itself as a good value product to acquire - or more to the point the hardware that has so far been shown.
How can windows 8 compete against iOS or google devices if it costs up to 4 times more - thats kinda the point I was trying to make.
Fair enough, but these models are not competing with iOS and google, it's in the Ultrabook/laptop field, neither google or iOS have tablets there.
The RT models are much cheaper to compete with Apple and Droid.
It's also only 15 quid to buy if you're on Windows 7 so that's pretty good value for a new OS!
Whilst they are not direct competition for iOS and Android, they will be competing with them whether they like ti or not.
I like the look of the duo and that is a lot of oumph for an 11" device, less of this Intel Atom crap that we have seen so far. Tis a bit on the expensive size but that's what you get for miniaturization!
Yeah, I suppose they'll be lumped together in the "tablet" bracket, that's Microsoft being a victim of their own gameplan. I think people will soon realise they're more powerful and those who needed that bit of extra umph they were getting from their laptops will go for the Pros.
I really like the idea of that 20". Will have to start saving...
Would be cool if they (Sony) could build a detachable keyboard for it, so it (the 20") could function as a "super laptop".
~12" 1080p is going to be tricky to see. My 24" (just over twice as long diagonally) at 1200p is quite sharp. I guess it's to compete with the iPad's Retina display - or whatever - but it does seem a bit excessive.
Same comment - hope the 11.6" also has a detachable keyboard. My HP TX2 doesn't detach from the keyboard, which creates a SPOF.
