    Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X

Prices seem to be from around 440 quid:

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=18551534

This seems around the same as the HD7970 and does make the Geforce Titan quite expensive looking in comparison.

HEXUS praised AMD like god. Even the load temp is ridiculously high the reviewer is still giving "Designed to run this hot". ROFL. How about a card that does not throttle that much and runs cool like the 780? 30% constant load performance penalty is just unacceptable.

Impressive scores. Glad to see AMD take the Titan head on.

Personally I couldn't care less. If I got a 290X, it would almost certainly be one with a custom cooling solution from MSI, Gigabyte, Asus or whoever else I decide on. Which might mean an even larger advantage for the Red card. Those who go waterblock are going to have a field day.

its the fastest single gpu at the moment - cant stand the bleeding edge? don't play the game. and this is nothing compared to a GTX 480 in temps or power load....

Happy with those prices. I need to do some comparison between the non-ref cards and make a choice

    Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X

Good entry from AMD, glad they didn't go down the money grabbing street nvidia have been dragging us down the past few years.
Don't think I would be happy with the stock cooler though, needs a bit of MSI custom cooler love before I would consider it.

I wonder how this 780ti is going to look in the charts and what nvidia will do with their pricing?
Certainly a bad time to buy anything at the moment as this should really stir it up.

    Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X

Very much lower price than I expected. Got one on pre order but disappointed that no custom cooled varieties are out there at the mo. I think this might need a third party aftermarket cooler at some point to get more out of it.

What's the bundle like with these cards? Still part of the Never Settle Mega Reloaded Forever Gold level?

As CAT-THE-FIFTH linked a list of non-reference cards can be found here but there doesn't seem to be any reviews as of yet.

They have announced that the 2xx cards are part of the Never Settle bundle and I expect them to update the game list at the end of the month (going by other snippets I've read)... the 290x will be in the Gold tier.

Thats pretty impressive. 95C does seem uncomfortably warm, but then I doubt too many people will be buying them with reference coolers.
Nvidia are going to have to do a lot with 780Ti pricing/performance to make this comfortable. £100 off the 780 & 780Ti at the 450 mark, assuming they don't do anything with Titan, although having a halo model thats slower than the next one down seems a bit random.
