Was interested in the 27" until 1080p...
Yes, both 24-inch and 27-inch versions are 1080p. I mentioned that they were 'Full HD' and linked the 24-incher specs in the article. The 27-inch version specs can be found here (click specs tab).
Yeah, 1440p is the "sweet spot" for a 27" panel imo.
On a more serious note, I'm joining the ranks of the disappointed with them being only 1080p res. Forget the curve, give us the res!Ass this to the quantum dot tech...
My parents had a curved screen back in the 80's, so they are nothing technically new and back then the press kept saying flat screens were the future !
I'd love to see a 15:9 ultra-widescreen version of this. I'd buy that up in a instance (1080 @ 30" would be fine too, as an entry level).
144Hz - YAY!
FreeSync - YAY!
125% sRGB - YAY!
1ms response time - YAY!
1080p 27" - oh ffs.

There isn't a sweet spot as it depends on your viewing distance. Think of these as a pair of 1920x1080 screens, one fit for narrow desks and one more suited to deeper desks.
Maybe with the HDR Push in TVs we'll see enough content being colour space tagged in order to make wide gamut displays usable but I wouldn't hold your breath. It's entirely possible we'll see a repeat of the situation ten years ago where they stopped pushing wide gamut displays after a couple of years because there was so little support that just about everything had the wrong colours.
Any guesses at when there will be a UHD version available? 12 months maybe?
Why are widescreen monitors restricted to 1920 X 1080 ?
My old Samsung monitor had a max. resolution of 2048 x 1536.
Does this mean gaming on my old non-widescreen monitor was better ?
These are gaming monitors. You don't need 1440p.
Oh, look... Another "gaming" monitor...
