It looks like some Linux distros.

Nice. Good for Windows. But 1 billion is lagging as we know 3 billion devices run Java

Like the 'vibe' of the direction, almost reminds me of the old 'white minimalist' skins we used to stick on xp and windows 7 with things like rainmeter. Hopefully it will work better then the current light theme on windows 10 as that's really bad imo.

Hopefully they'll also finally include a native pdf thumbnailer so we don't need to install acrobat (and the fixes in some cases) just to get a pdf thumbnail.... iOS has been able to do this for ages now.

It would be nice if MS did something simular to linux to allow people to boot into a shell prompt and choose how resource heavy a desktop enviroment the user wants. some people like KDE some like XFCE for example. Theres alot of things in windows that most users completely ignore or try to disable as much as possible like Cortana.

I don't know - win 10 is pretty lightweight for the resources available to your average computer these days. No need to make it like linux when you can just run linux if you want (and the rest of us can run it within windows now too). Cortana disabling is usually about privacy rather than memory.

You might want to try using the search feature from the main Start menu?

You've always been able to change the shell to anything you like in Windows. By default it's set to Explorer.exe, change it to powershell or command prompt if you so wish. Just have a backup redundant user in case something goes belly up or it's just easier to achieve in the normal GUI.
