We agree that RX 6800, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 are better with respect to energy efficiency. Hardly a surprise given the 230W TDP on show here.

I think they left too big a gap in performance between the 6800 and the 6700XT.

It might have been OK if the pricing gap was also as large but they have gone maybe too high compared to green team.

Feels like a misstep this time from AMD. Maybe the 6700 non XT will be a sweeter spot for price / performance.

I have a SFF PC,and regret not nabbing a RTX3060TI on launch day(almost did). Wanted to wait and see what AMD would come up with. Apparently it was overpriced dissapointment.

Small + fast should be good for production, as Hexus note, shame that the end user ends up paying the power price for it, though I think at this point anything to improve supply is good.

Rasterisation performance looks good, but RT takes surprisingly massive hit compared to the 6800/XT - seems like number of texture units is more important than clock speed when it comes to RT. This also previews RT performance for consoles I guess, and suggests there's going to be a lot of optimisation by game devs.

The XBox Series X has far more shader cores than the RX6700XT,so I suspect the GPU will have more RT performance. DF also said it looked like the PS5 had RT performance closer to the RX6800,so it does tell me PC RT performance seems off,and in some games such as the new WoW the RX6000 series has very competitive RT performance. However,it does appear some RT effects such as intense RT reflections tank performance on the RX6000 series more than shadows,Global Illumination,etc and also there is the other aspect of denoising which probably works differently on each uarch and needs specific optimisations.

True, I suppose you could argue that the card will get better performance once the drivers mature, but this one seems to be flip flopping all over the place in terms of performance.

Looking on Currys which in these crazy times I take as basically RRP (because they haven't been gouging and leave their prices up, even though they don't actually have any stock) the 3060ti starts at £443 with a modal average of £480.

I was going on what i typed into Google a couple of hours ago that i can't remember any more, i think it was something something MSRP.

I've sort of stopped paying much attention to GPU's even though I'm in the market for one as it's mostly been 'meh' launches due to there being no stock and even if there is prices being way over what they're worth.

One thing i did notice over the last few days is that Hardware Unboxed tested Radeon cards on low end CPU's and found, because of driver overheads with Nvidia cards, you get better performance from Radeon cards than Nvidia, in some instances 20-30% faster.

Hmm somewhat disappointing, even if you ignore RT and DLSS

Slightly more annoying is that none of these cards (6700 XT, 3070, 3060 Ti) have many dual slot, dual fan options, which makes finding an SFF-friendly card even harder!

I need a compact mid-range 1440p card for my GF's PC, so if they have availability the MBA 6700 XT is still the most realistic option...

AMD might be 2% behind technologically (DLSS & RT) but if it wasn't for them the RRP OF 3060 would be at $2000 and a 4 core i7 would still be retailing at $600.
