Scan Cool Chameleon - A First Look

The Chameleon is a product unique not only in Scan's approach to its conception, development and prototyping (they're a new company to creating boutique PCs like this after all), but unique in its final appearance. The paint effect, no matter how expensive, is professionally applied and very striking in the flesh. The final effect with a different colour choice will be even more so. And it's not just the paint, it's the little detail touches and the work Scan have done customising the chassis for the water-cooling hardware that also appeal. I've deliberately held off showing you much of them, in anticipation of the final hardware landing at Casa Del Rys sometime in the future.

Cases don't disperse heat evenly... even in the coolest of systems ... so you'll always see some of the effect in action

Looks neat. Does the system heat up enough to really dramatically change colour? Personally, I'd like to see a SFF box with this on, I think the heat changes would maybe be more extreme, and the smaller boxes are easier to fit on the desk to be seen properly And maybe it would only be cheaper, say 650 quids worth of paint! Still, if you're buying this kind of ultra spec pc, you could afford a gold pedestal and custom display to show it off properly!

I wonder how many of these Scan really expect to sell? Anyone have any figures for how big the 'boutique' PC market is?

TBH yeah it does change colour. I've seen it up close and personal

    Wow...talk about freakin' expensive!

But it looks pretty sweet and probably has the performance to back itself up..

Looks nice, but what I am wondering, is what the hell kind of water cooling system are they using (the ones in the picture oin the Hexus review)..cuz the pipes are super-fat and I have been thinking about a water cool upgrade for my computer, and that one looks like a very high end one, which is what I want.

Also, wat is the homepage for the Scan Cool Chameleon website?

(Also this is my first post on this forum, so hey everyone, my name is Ashraf, im 15 years old, and I love hexus.net )

    Welcome to HEXUS!

That tubing will be 1/2" outer diameter. It's the largest you'll usually find in watercooling, but it's not really rare. My w/c setup uses it, for example.

Yea thats what I thought it was....that's crazy man. I mean, 2 1/2" tubes for each GPU and 2 1/2" tubes for the CPU. Thats crazy...I wish I could afford that kind of setup.

Any idea how much that would cost? Probably 300 dollar range for the entire set or even more?
