Symbian software for streaming music over home network?

Thinking of getting an N95 when they finally appear. Going to keep my MDA Vario as my business phone. But one of the things i enjoy doing is streaming music to my Vario around my house with Conduits Pocket Player and the UPnP plugin, it's great accessing my entire music collection in the garden or around plugged into my bedroom HiFi.

Is they anything available for Symbian that i can do this with?

TBH, the more i look at Symbian, the more i am going off it. Decent third party applications are few and far between. The N95 had so many features, yet there seem little to actually make use them. Nokia's standard apps that come on the phone are nice, but a little wet behind the ears. Windows Mobile seems light years ahead in terms of software development.

there are 1000's of symbian stuff out there. you just gotta know where to look. the n95 can do all those things that your mda does.

i was saying the same thing about symbian but when i found links to 10000 of applications i was impressed and made me look forward to the n95 even more!

I have googled for a while now with little decent results. I certainly would not say the N95 will do all of the things an MDA will, third party software wise.

Can you provide me with a link(s) for what i might be looking for?

    Cheers

The N95 supports UPnP straight out of the box. No additional software needed.

Yes but so have other phones and devices. This does not mean it will be integrated into the music player app.

I downloaded the user manual from Nokia. It says that you can browse videos/audio/photos via the Gallery app. Thats not the same thing as having an 'MP3' playing app that can seamlessly choose and play by Album, Artist, Playlist, Genre etc.

There is no mention at all in the manual about the music player having this function. That said the manual is typically vague so we will have to wait and see.

it has crossed my mind to have a look at porting the comand line version of SoftSqueeze onto Symbian/UIQ3 and then controlling it with the modified handheld skin with player controls....

but then i remembered i'm a crap programmer

I know there is a piece of software called Orb that lets you stream video and music to Symbian phones. Will eat up your data charges though unless you are on the X-Series contract with three.
