vodafone - new customers welcome - old open your wallet

taken direct from the vodafone website

If you’re new to Vodafone you can choose a pay monthly price plan online and save an extra 10%. Alternatively, you can call 08000 656 570 or visit your local Vodafone store.

If you’re already with Vodafone you can upgrade to a new price plan by calling 191 from a Vodafone mobile or 08700 700 191*** from any other phone.

*** Calls to 08700 700 191 are charged at your provider’s standard rate.
new customers use the 0800 number - existing customers premium rate 0870 number.

Luckily 191 from Vodafone handsets is free - or at least it is on my contract.

Thats pretty cheeky, but current customers get a worse deal that new customers on the whole in most aspects.

To be honest its the same with every mobile company that I know of. I must say that Vodafone seem to have 1 of the best customer services around. (well everytime ive called them anyway)

I'm not sure sure - normally when you leave a provider they try and give you a better deal. I rang Vodafone yesterday to leave (moving to TMob) and they didn't even put up a fight!

Old customers get 191 free for their vodafone handset that they will already have so i really dont see the problem.

Yup, I've been with VodaFone for years and when I moved to O2 briefly, they didn't really care. I think if you want a deal out of them you have to really ask for it and be prepared to haggle them into a good deal.

I'm out of my contract now and will be seeing what extras I can squeeze out of them soon.

I've been with Vodafone since last August, and I must say, the customer service is the worst I have ever come across.

But I presume I need to wait out my 18 month contract to move

Nope you can leave any time ... just be prepared to pay the minimum line rental for however long is left... most people seem to find this a bad plan and shut up & put up for the duration. Also the 0800 for sales and chargeable for non network cs is standard across the board in most of the communication industry.
