    O2 Changing My Contract

    Hey,

O2 have just text me this morning informing me that 0845 and some other calls will no longer be counted as inclusive minutes. Since I make 0845 calls a lot this is going to run up a bill for me. Problem is, I've only got a few months left of my contract (expires in November), and that at the end of my contract I could upgrade to a nice cheap retentions tariff if I threaten to leave.

But I could get out of my contract early now as I would have reasonable grounds to leave, I know they changed conditions last year and loads of people left their contracts. Decisions... decisions.

Are there any good 12 month contracts from any other providers at the moment? I may be convinced to switch allegiances. You never know, O2 may put me through to retentions anyway and offer me a great deal (but without 0845 numbers... it's just house phones and mobiles then - not brilliant is it? )

    Re: O2 Changing My Contract

I was pretty annoyed when i got that text as well. Means phoning support and customer service lines is going to actally cost me something from now on. Might be tempted to move when i next upgrade, but then i already get the O2 30 tariff for £15.

How come? Just due to retentions? I'm not sure how to do it but have been told it's quite straightforward.

    Re: O2 Changing My Contract

Yeah. I wanted a P990i and was offered one through CarphoneWarehouse as long as i ported my number over to them. Was going to be £99 for the phone and £30/month over 18 months, making £639 in total.

O2 didn't have the phone available there and then but gave me a good deal, £200 for the phone and £15/month for 12 months, making £380. I might have said CPW were offering it over 12 months as opposed to 18 by mistake though

The phone was delayed a couple of times, and i ended up getting 2 months free line rental in between.

I think it has someting to do with the fact i get loads of free texts and minutes but hardly use them. so they were actually making £30/month out of me.

I was also told i could upgrade my phone after 9 months this next time too, but there isn't anything available that i want at the minute.

    Re: O2 Changing My Contract

My O2 contract is about to run out. They're trying to double my monthly bill and half my minutes/txts and offer me a crap phone. Because I was on some limite deal last year.

I told them I was going to leave and spoke to some COMPLETE moron who offered me an even lesser deal, when I explained his new great deal to me was not only a huge amount worse than what I was already 'offered' it would also have made my contact 18months rather than 12 and meant I had no warrenty covering my phone.

I'm going to ring them shortly and canceal it all together and just use my works phone. I was trying to keep my O2 contract as I don't get very good signal where I live on BT Network ( Vodaphone )

Oh well, I wouldn't hold out too much hope if you get put through to retentions, put it that way!

    Re: O2 Changing My Contract

Yeah, I understand how everyone feels toward the changing in call charges to 08XX number....

I have 1000 mins evening/weekend .,,,i use this to call other country...

    Good news...

Anyway... if you are on O2 business... you can cancel the contract without any further charges or even have to meet the 12/18 months contract time...

The trick with retentions is to keep calm, do your research and start off by asking for your PAC. Works everytime!

same here . ring up about 30 days before end of contract ask for pac number you will get a bit of bull of em , then they will offer you a better deal if no good stuff em and take your number to a new network for 12 months and then switch back after that.
