    Re: MDA Vario III

Other than the Xperia, the only thing I've seen from HTC is software. There was a leaked piece of software that replaced the built in contact management and messaging apps, making them very pretty and finger friendly.

All the graphics within the leaked software was for VGA resolution screens. The speculation is that the next generation of devices will be very similar to the current ones, but with VGA screens and actual hardware video acceleration meaning fully graphical interfaces will be very slick and fluid, they can effectively build a Direct3D interface for everything.

The only other adition I can think of for them to squeeze in is WiMax, but no Uk carrier has gone that route yet, so that could be a US only feature.

Personally, I'm OK with QVGA on the Touch Dual; a combination of that plus Opera Mini works pretty well.

    Re: MDA Vario III

The TyTn was an evolutionary step I think, certainly for me due to the 3G data and unlimited plan. The TyTn2/Kaiser is certainly better in that it's quicker and has GPS (@& better camera?) but nothing radical. The next step? For me it would have a slightly bigger, VGA screen, a 5+megapixel camera that works properly, better ergonomics, a 3.5mm headphone jack and that's about it. It'll be faster of course and more reliable, but I can't see what else I could want from a mobile device.

    Re: MDA Vario III

lack of heaphone jack doesn't bother me, but then i'm used to having a SonyEricsson. I also have a little converter from the hybrid USB port to a 3.5mm jack.

I was playing around with the Kaiser camera the other day, and with the updated ROMs the camera is perfectly usable. Far, far better than it was originally.

    Re: MDA Vario III

Has anyone had any problem calling people from your MDA vario III and the call would not connect the first time round, you had to try and call few times for the call to connect and the same would happen if any one else would call you?

I've just gone over to dutty's last night and I think it will be my last rom. It's just lovely and smooth. A few issues:

    1. HTC album initially didn't work, there is an easy fix, just install another .cab (linked to in the main thread)
    2. Doesn't autodetect network so you have to go to settings but that's just me being lazy.

Everything else is fixed and it is finally the phone it should have been!

    Re: MDA Vario III

Get the one that appears to have the best features for you. You can always re-flash with another.

The Dutty series focussed on eye candy and touch functionality. Some of the others are really stripped back letting you install only the things you need.

I need to go through XDA Devs and have a look at whats new now that Dutty has moved onto the Diamond Touch. It's also been a few months since I last upgraded my ROM.

I dropped my phone the other day, for the first time ever... and it was on concrete!

Now I have 4 scratches on the front frame around the screen and another at the buttom under the keys. Bugger.

    Re: MDA Vario III

I updated the ROM to the last of the Dutty versions, looks nice but it is no faster than the original T-Mobile rom I was on.

Will try something else at the weekend I think, I don't use half the features, nice looks is a bonus, speed (no lag!) is the most important though as long as it does HSDPA for browsing, i can make calls and send texts / emails then I am happy!

Some sat nav software would be nice, but not essential!
