well the worse that can happen if you go over the fair usage is that they will just send you a warning mail or just cap your bandwitdh for a while. in t mobile im sure 3gb is the fair usage. if so that aint too bad. who would use more then 3gb bandwith on a mobile phone anyway?

That's true for their "plus" package which, as krazy_olie says, is another £5. Couldn't you go over 3gb if you were streaming video a lot?

Re: Who's got the best/cheapest data package?

    Hi everyone,

Just to clarify, Vodafone's offering is 120MB per month for £7.50 per month including VAT. Thought I'd clarify this as there's a higher figure mentioned above.

The bundle covers all usage except VoIP services and Peer to Peer messaging like MSN. Those services will be charged at £2 per MB.

    Have a nice day,

    edwardpeter

Thanks for correcting me edwardpeter, although that does make your data package even worse than i had previously though.

120MB! wow! I could easily kill that just with checking email and using google maps!

Re: Who's got the best/cheapest data package?

Back on topic, I've just wrestled with this. T-mobile retentions, after I asked for my PAC code, offered me £13 off my plan if I signed up to another 18m. In the end I went for it - so I got Flext20+WnW basic for £14.50. In practice I have munted the WnW some months and never been picked up on it. You could drop to basic and see if they notice you, you can always go back up?

The alternative I nearly went for was 3 PAYG - 12p a min, free voicemail and £5/m internet (thought you have to add it manually each month). The reason I didn't was that their 3G reception in my house is rubbish. It kept failing over to the GPRS roaming arrangement and that doesn't work for some PAYG users, including me. But if you have good 3 reception it's a good way to go - no tie-ins. Tmob and 3 will apparently be sharing 3g masts soon so my reception probs would probably have gone away, but the offer from Tmob seemed reasonable so I decided to stop wasting time thinking about it!

O2, Voda and Orange don't seem to have any economical mobile broadband options.

O right I live at the other end of the country, in London i get coverage absolutely everywhere.
Didnt think Shetland islands would have any coverage of GSM network :O

Re: Who's got the best/cheapest data package?

Obviously you get coverage everywhere in London, but that doesn't mean it is the same everywhere.

Shetland has a population of 23,000. It is covered completely Vodaphone, but not the other networks.

Aberdeen has about 202,000 as of 2006 and as far as I can tell there is next to no 3G coverage by O2.
