Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

My iPhone cannot be recognised through USB - Malfunctioned USB device....

I think I restore will resolve this problem, however as iTunes will not recognise the phone I cannot do this through the normal method.

Does anyone know of anyway that I can restore an iPhone through a Wireless connection via SSH... so hopefully I can fix my IPhone.

    Chris

Re: Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

My iPhone is fully unlocked with firmware V 1.1.14 with all the 3rd party apps etc

Ziphone required the iPhone to be connected through the USB cable, the problem is my PC wont recognise my iPhone when connected to my PC.

    I think I am screwed ...

Tried all the USB ports? Reinstall iTunes? May recognise after a new install of iTunes.

Add some extra USB ports to your PC and try them?

If all else fails reinstall your OS?

Re: Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

Try it on a different port. I have problems with a RoadAngel showing up as unrecognised if its plugged into any port but the first one I installed it through.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that once you install a USB device, while the drivers are available on the system, windows basically reinstalls it when it is plugged into a different usb port - so generating some sort of different ID for on each port used for a given device.

Re: Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

Thanks guys but I have tried thjorugh different USB ports and different PC's and tested other iPhone on the same system, which detect.

The problem must be with the phone as the phone will not show it is charging even when connected through the AC Adapter, but if left all night and then hard reset the batteryis full...

Re: Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

Found this on the net, it has instructions for the Mac but essentially itunes is the same regardless of OS :

ModMyiFone.com - Apple iPhone forum, iPhone hacking, iPhone mods, and more - View Single Post - iTunes won't detect my iPhone

To put the phone into restore mode :

ModMyiFone.com - Apple iPhone forum, iPhone hacking, iPhone mods, and more - View Single Post - iPhone not recognized by Mac or PC after 1.1.1 unlock

Worth giving a shot I reckon, nothing to lose.

Re: Unlocked iPhone - Unrecognised USB Device

The phone needs to be replaced, looks like I'll be shelling out for a new one so will probably change over from Orange to O2 so if I have further issues I can return the phone to Apple.

I've got £ 100 for my old iPhone .. so its not too bad...
