Is there a touch friendly WM device with capacitive touch?

My phone contract is up for renewal soon, so i'm already looking at new devices that are due out soon, ready for upgrade time.

I currently have a 2G iPhone (unlocked and running on Orange), and while its one of the best phones I have ever owned, i'm probably going to upgrade to something new and shiny because well, i'm a geek and I can The 3G iPhone does not tempt me as it restricts me to 02 and their useless service, so i'd rather stick with Orange or Vodafone. So really the only other option I have is a WM6.1 device ala the HTC Touch Pro etc.

Before I had the iPhone I owned a HTC Touch (original model), which was a great phone..but my biggest gripe with it was the touch screen. Compared to my iPhone it is just so incredibly insensitive, due entirely to the fact it is a resistive touch screen (like the majority on the market) that requires an actual screen depression to pick up a touch. The iPhones capacitive glass fronted screen is much better at picking up touch without having to press hard, or use a stylus. The other big issue I had with it other than the touch screen (and lack of ram..but I know to go for at least 128mb now ) was the touch navigation around WM6..a stylus was still required for parts of the OS, and imo you should never need to use a stylus on a touch phone these days. The iPhone has proved how easily you can get rid of it..so it is important really that you can use the entire device with just your fingers. Capacitive touch (if a WM6 device has it) would prevent stylus use anyway

Final thing that would be nice is a built in physical keyboard (that slides out ala the HTC touch pro), but it is not a necessity..especially if it has a decent touch skin on the OS

So, to summarise (and add a few extra things)..are there any WM6 phones with:

    WM6.1 Professional
    Capacitive/Glass fronted touch
Pervasive Touch friendly skin throughout WM6 (so a stylus is not required)
    At least 128mb ram
3.5" display (at least 320x480..higher the res the better)
    Built in qwerty keyboard (optional)

I've not been able to find details on a device with these features, but maybe someone else knows of one If not..are there any really good WM6 devices on the way that it would be worth looking at anyway?

    Cheers

Aha well spotted..don't know why I had discounted RIM devices in my head..for some reason I assumed the only other decent phone OS around atm was WM6.

Will definitely pop into a vodafone shop and have a look at one of those then; hopefully in a couple of months time there will be an upgraded version out for me

Re: Is there a touch friendly WM device with capacitive touch?

Windows Mobile doesn't support capacitive touch because of the need to use a stylus for most things still.

HTC and others have very nice interfaces layed over the top of WinMob, but once you get away from the basic tasks, you need a stylus to use the interface.

This should be helped in 6.5 and probably softed for 7. But until then, manufacturers are stuck with resistive touch plastic screens.

You will be impressed. Here is mine remote desktoping into Vista (reading hexus with firefox )

Sorry I am teh sux0rs with cameras.

Not going to remote in to my PC again! Its ruined all my icons on my desktop

Edit:damn, should have taken the photo when the RDP client was in full screen... that way it would look like my phone can run vista

Edit2: actually I can make a new account on the PC for running remote desktop, that way my icons on my main account won't get screwed

Don't want to keep this thread off topic, so lets make a new thread for HTC Touch HD... (Haven't tried GPS yet, I don't drive and I have only had this since Friday)
