    iPhone on Tesco mobile...the prices!

3GS to be offered from 14th December. Web & Wifi free for term on contracts & 12months on Pay&Go
Collect double clubcard points on phone purchase & triple on any credit/monthly bill cost.
    £60 of calls/texts = approx 200mins/200txt.

    3G
£342 on Pay&Go (save £20 when you spend £40 in store)
    £222 on 12month contract @ £20/month (includes £60 of calls/text) (total cost £462)
Free on £24month contract @ £60/month (includes unlimited calls & text) (total cost £1440)

    3GS (16GB)
£440 on Pay&Go (save £20 when you spend £40 in store)
    £320 on 12month contract @ £20/month (includes £60 of calls/text) (total cost £560)
Free on £24month contract @ £60/month (includes unlimited calls & text) (total cost £1440)

    3GS (32GB)
£538 on Pay&Go (save £20 when you spend £40 in store)
    £407 on 12month contract @ £20/month (includes £60 of calls/text) (total cost £647)
    £50 on £24month contract @ £60/month (includes unlimited calls & text) (total cost £1490)

    In comparison to O2:

    3G 8GB - 24month contract (600m/500txt) = £822.24
    3GS 16GB - 24month contract (600m/500txt) = £909.35
    3GS 32GB - 24month contract (600m/500txt) = £997.43

Looks like a mixed bag really

The unlimited packages seem very expensive... considering that Tesco's normal unlimited package costs £30/month - on a 1 month contract - you are effectively paying £720 for a 16GB 3GS handset.

OTOH the £20/month packages compare quite well with O2's offering - but do you get unlimited internet with that?

The pay monthly offers are not available online but you can now call a special sales line on 08000014150.
Ive just spoken to them and they say this is a dedicated sales line for the iphone

Yep an unlocked PAYG on O2 is the way forward. Then any sim can be used

the save £20 when you spend £40 seems like the only good incentive. i'm not sure if tesco rent another carrier's 3g service because i doubt they'll have their own infrastructure, but i'd be much more comfortable with o2 or orange. i've got an unlocked 3g on 3, and it's ok but my brother on orange gets much better coverage.

Tesco use O2 as their network.

Personally I don't think it's a good deal, I would jailbreak a PAYG and put in a cheap O2 sim-plicity card when they come on offer again. It will work out cheaper and better minutes than a contract.
