I've also just picked up an android phone (HD2), and was thinking of what apps to get.
Most likely going to go for an Opera browser, just got a cpu app to downclock, undervolt etc.
Miren browser is my favourite. Also Music Paradise if you want do download something while you're out and National Rail recently released a free official app if you use the train much.
Dolphin HD, Titanium Backup and Whatsapp have already been mentioned - all great.
AirDroid is fantastic. Check it out.
