Problem with my phone - "Invalid Mobile" ?

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this.

I bought my T610 in about march / april this year second hand on ebay. It has been working fine until a few weeks ago when I got "Invalid Mobile" displayed on the screen instead of just plain 02. It basically won't connect to any network at all and effectively renders the phone useless for the purposes of a phone.

After a little research what I can gather is that possibily the phone has been blacklisted for UK networks for some reason. Does anyone have any experience of this?

I understand that if this is the case the phone was probably stolen and flogged on ebay which doesn't fill me with much joy to be honest - handling stolen goods and all but is there anything that I can do about it? Can it be fixed or will I have to get another one?

It seems like the owner just found the phones IMEI number and reported it stolen. That phone is now blocked on all UK networks, you can get it reflashed but this is HIGHLY ILLEGAL. Looks like you will have to get a new one. This is why I only buy from trusted traders that i've dealt with in the past. If you are looking for a new phone feel free to pm me and i'l ask around for you.

Isn't it illegal to sell a mobile phone and report it stolen to get the phone blocked?

Yup, sounds like it's been cloned at some point, then when the owner twigged reported it and now it's been squished.

Nobody will touch it with a barge pole now as it's actually illegal to change a mobile phone's IMEI number, looks like you'll have to bin it and start again..

    Sorry chap.

Also I would inform ebay that the seller sold you some stolen property.

Thing is though I got the phone over 60 days ago. That sale isn't in My Ebay any longer.
