Camera Sound

I've been looking through the options on my Nokia 6260 to find a way to turn the shutter sound file off when taking photographs. I've been unable to find the option, so i decided to do a search on google regarding it. From what I understand this option has been removed from newly released phones due to a new law being past in some parts of Asia (Japan and China in particular) to protect privacy and prevent "spy shots" from being taken.

I just thought it was an interesting discovery, so I thought I'd post it on here.

intersting indeed - i always wondered why i could turn it off on my old nokia 7650, yet my newish nokia 7600 i could never find the option

i was into all them spy shots too, pics are normally funnier when there not looking

surely there has to be a way - on a nokia i could unscrew it and take the speaker out....i wouldnt hear the call, but it would still vibrate and talk to me, i was after something less drastic than that tho, maybe there will be hacked firmwares somewhere that allow u to shut it up ?

Yer you can get hacked firmware to shut it up, www.davinciteam.com they've got the stuff to do it.

I cba to buy a cable just for that tho.

i do, its on silent, but the camera still makes a noise

Nope still makes a noise

Some firmware versions make a shutter noise in silent mode some dont.

My phone stops the shutter sound when it's on Silent
