I had almost given up on getting the update, but it appears they're recruiting Beta testers, having already updated the TV box...

Might actually get it before the Moto X Force...

Cheers Smudger, this is the first news iv'e heard about it, Nvidia seem fairly good at putting out system updates but I honestly thought they had stopped with the shield tablet now.
I wonder if the original shield thing will get an update too !
Cheers for the rumour.
My original Hudl has been playing up and feels very sluggish these days, so I ordered a Shield K1. The K1 is getting a bit old now, but still seemed the best I could find in the sub £200 range.
I got my Shield to replace my Hudl2, which I gave to my son. That now lasts about 30 minutes on battery, I think I chose a good time to upgrade. And the K1 is still perfectly fast for everything I need to do (some gaming, FB, Twitter, Kindle etc). I don't actually use the nVidia gaming service...
They haven't updated the original Shield TV box yet, apparently it could be a few weeks away. The good news is that it is getting the update and will finally have Amazon Prime on it, which is crucial for me. Comon nVidia I want to move the Shield TV out of my man cave and into the lounge!!!!
I see, I fell for the 'they posted it on the wrong page' thing, thought it was a fait accompli...

Would consider a Shield TV, if I didn't already have a Chromecast, Smart TV and Tivo, with a V6 on the way. I can't actually think of a justification that'll get past my wife...

I got my Nougat update earlier in the week. Seems OK. Notifications are better, haven't had much chance to test out the split screen thingy or battery life. The new wallpaper looks fabulous though.
Have been playing Fallout Shelter on my K1 tablet, game start up time seems better after the update though I hadn't had the thing for long before so it could all be in my head
It seems slightly faster to me (after a reboot) and a recurring problem I had before of getting error messages about 'photos stopped working' seems to have gone. I have no idea how to get the new multi tasking thingy to work though, I tried opening a couple things but saw no way to put them split screen, maybe the apps need to be programmed to be able to do that.
The instructions say to tap the 'Overview' button to get split-screen. Is that the square one?
Edit: Sorry, it's double-tap. Still just opens something else rather than split-screening...
Edit again: Sorry, double-tap on overview is for going back to the last opened app. Which works...
Well, that's easy. You just open an app, press & hold on the 'Intents' button (square) then it goes split screen and you choose the app you want to be in the 2nd window. Simple.

I got another big update last night. Unfortunately not to 7.1 or anything, just some bug fixes. Over 700Mb though...
It's Shield Tablet Software v5.1
