Calls to 0844/0845 and 0870/0871 numbers

Are there any packages that include calls to the above non-geographic numbers from a mobile? I know the answer is probably no but i'm hoping there is a provider that offers this.

The reason I ask is that I call abroad a lot of the time and the call-through provider uses non-geographic numbers (typically 0844 or 0871 numbers). These tend to cost a fair bit more from a mobile than from a landline.

i doubt it, but where do you call from and what phone do you have? One of the pocket pc ones with wifi and skype should sort you out nicely if youre in a hotspot a lot.

I'm talking about calling from my mobile phone when i'm out and about (in the UK). I'm with Orange at the moment.

When i'm at home I just use my landline so that's not an issue.

    pak000: O2 don't charge for non-geo numbers?

I just got this from the O2 FAQ (www.o2.co.uk):

    Frequent Questions

What phone numbers are not included in my call bundle?

Premium rate numbers, International and Roaming calls, and numbers starting 0871 and 070 are not included in your call bundle.

So there's a possibility that 0844, 0845 and 0870 might me included with O2 bundles.

i dont ever remeber being charged for 0845,but im almost certain they will, since they charge you for 0800 numbers.

My earlier suggestion was to use wifi hotspots, which even if you have to pay for time on them are probably cheaper than anything else.

As an aside, it may be worth looking into voip while youre at home too, depending where you are calling the rates are incredibly low.

i've just dug out my most recent bill....I made a nubmer of 0845, 0870 calls, i was not charged, they were however taken from my inclusive minutes.

I also rang one 0800, that was also taken from my inclusive minutes, i remember when dialing it i was told to remove the 0 and just dial 800 to get my call to connect.

    I'm on the o2 200 tarrif

Okay, thanks. I'll look into O2 as my current contract with Orange ends in less than 3 months.

Can you post your findings back here. I also use 0844, would be nice to have these calls cheaper when out and about.

I have a very old Orange contract and 0870 numbers are taken from my inclusive minutes, but, bizarrely, 0845 are charged, as are 0871.
Rather annoyingly Orange now charge 10p/minute for 0800 calls when they were always free :-(

Another nail in the Orange coffin IMO - I'm off to O2 when they (finally) get the SE P990.
