Looking around i see the price of the Fuji E900 is about £250/260ish. Ive recently been looking around for a camera for my sister. She wanted a good zoom and since you are used to the 10x optical on the S602Zoom, maybe you would want to look at the Panasonic TZ1. Ive been reading reviews and it sounds good, manages to fit the 10x zoom into a compact space, also lithum battery rather than alkaline. In this price bracket with a high zoom, good picture quality and lithium battery, i think its the best around really. Heres a review if you're interested.

Cheapest place ive found it was £249 here

Although this is where my sister ordered it from and they are having a few problems with deliveries from Panasonic so if you need it now, maybe you want to pay extra and get it now. Since my sister doesnt yet have it I cant offer any personal reviews, just what ive read.

    Chris.
definitely get a TZ1. Photoographyblog.com have a favourable review as well.
I really can't see that a semi-pro snapper would ever need to buy another camera if they got a TZ1. No viewfinder is annoying, but it looks like that there is a trend towards screen only. Point and hope in bright sunlight I guess?
Unless Sony release an Alpha DSLR before my summer hols, I'll be getting a TZ1. Might be time to start checking out whether digicams are cheaper in Italy!

Panasonic digicams though are considered really weak when it comes to low light.

Hmmmmmm, until now have been tempted by one of the PANAs

Either the DMC LX1 or the FX9 depending on budget

The E900 Fuji is just too big.......................

The canon Ixus 750 id only 200 pounds, but I like the 16:9 ratio lens on the Pana......................... Please any thoughts

I love my FUJI 602ZOOM its just too hefty

Have you looked at the Fuji F10? It's pretty ugly but the images are pretty good. Once I taught my mum how to use the spot metering she managed to get some great shots at G4 concerts and that's not exactly the best lighting conditions. Specifically it has great low light performance, I think it won European camera of the year last year and is only £145 on Amazon.

Looks pretty reasonable, as you say its a bit of an ugly duckling, but that does not bother me all that much, I kinda did want a wider angle lens though, my 602 zoom is 35 - 220 and i hoped for a 28mm, as always I think I just want too much!!!1
