    Recommend a USB bluetooth dongle?

The one I bought off Ebay seems to have died (when I plug it in I get a device is not recognised error) so I need a replacement.

Ideally it would be cheap and reliable but it's hard to find any reviews. Are the all just as good as each other?

If you have a suggestion, a link to a place to buy from would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

I've got a MSI Btoes usb dongle, cheap as fish and chips when dining at Marks and Spencers, so its about £15.

Really easy to setup and use and rather ickle too which has its bonues but very easy to loose being that small.

Never really had a problem with them!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I can't really see any difference between the cheap and expensive ones. I guess I was just unlucky with my Ebay one.

They can differ in their range. Class 1 dongles theoretically work up to 100 meters (provided the thing it's talking to is also class 1) and class 2 dongles work up to 10 meters.

They can also differ in the blutetooth profiles they support. Most will have the profile for connecting a PC to a mobile phone but some may not, for example, support connection to bluetooth stereo headphones (A2DP profile).

Also, older dongles may only support an older version of bluetooth rather than the latest 2.0 version (which supports a faster transmission rate).

Providing you're not trying to do anything special and you're not trying to connect over a large distance then you should be alright with any old dongle. Of course, the build quality may be questionable for an unbranded generic one if you're unlucky.

I personally, have used a TDK dongle for over 2 years without any problems.

Try Ebuyer, generally best place to get cheap decent ones.... around £7 inc p7p. Listen to RS2000 and avoid bluesoleil ones!!! Try to get one that works with WinXP native bluetooth stack.

The very latest version of the bluesoleil is actually decent but I would still avoid it possible. It did save my skin as I use Win2003 as desktop and that doesn't have a bluetooth stack so I had to use it.
