    Vista beta install problem.

I have tried to install vista, as a clean install on a spare partition on my hard drive.

It copies the files to the hard drive, then restarts and I choose "windows setup" rather than "earlier version of windows", and it goes to a BSOD, displaying this message.....

    Doesnt look good.....

    any ideas??

    and also,

how can I get rid of the boot sector that still asks me to boot into windows setup or previous version of windows (media center edition)

i want it just to boot straight into media center edition as it did before... system restore didnt work.

boot.ini relates to XP/2K's boot loader. vista has its own new one, which can be hacked on by hand with the command-line tool "bcdedit", or graphically with third party tools like easybcd

    Ok,

I have fixed the problem of it trying to boot into vista,

    back to the original problem!

why the bsod? the microsoft site seemed to say that it was something to do with a driver problem.

The BETA's had major problems with some nV graphics cards, so I'd imagine that's where the problem's stemming from.

When installing Vista it asks you something "like do you have 3rd part raid scisi etc", if so press F6, from your system you do have sata.

I couldn't install vista on another partition at first, it just wouldn't accept any sata drivers offered from a floppy, lucky the first drive was win2k, so I stuck winxp on the second drive and let vista upgrade it erm or more like obliterate it........anyway it did the trick.
