Help: Microsoft Bus Driver conflict with RealTek audo

    Hello

I have a self built system using a
    Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R iG33
motherboard. It uses a RealTek audio chipset that is not working due to some sort of conflict with the Microsoft UAA bus driver for HD audio.

As a stopgap, I tried fitting an old soundblaster card I had lying around, but the windows issues stopped that from working as well.

I know it is a problem with the MS UAA bus driver because if I disable that device from the device manager, my soundblaster card re-appears:

    Before:

After disabling & re-enabling the HD audo driver:

If I try to install the driver for the RealTek card automatically, then windows reports that it cannot install the driver. If I try and use the driver on the CD that came with the motherboard (or drivers from Gigabyte's website), the installer gets about half way through and then fails complaining that the MS bus driver is needed.

If I try and install the drivers for the Soundblaster card, they install normally. The installer says I need to reboot before the card will work. After the reboot the Soundblaster card has disappeared, and the drivers for it complain that it is missing.

After a goggle search I found this advice.

I have tried most of the advice on that page including replacing the HD audo driver with a hotfix from Microsoft, un-installing the driver from the Add/Remove programs menu, and doing a recovery installation using my XP install CD.

If anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful. I am normally able to fix most windows problems but this one has me stuck.
