"linux autom complete" is a misnomer, it depends on the shell you use. otherwise you just get beeped at.

hahhaha. That is true. I have been beeped at before. So choose a better shell. U can't really choose a better MS shell can u ? Unless some bright spark made a good command prompt for windows ?

    it's coming in Longhorn.

and CMD is already a vast improvement over COMMAND, to be fair

There are a few alternative Windows shells out there e.g. http://docs.geoshell.com/R4/ReplacementShellForWindows.

CygWin is a free product that goes a bit further and provides UNIX/Linux APIs and command shells on Windows. This allows you to run many UNIX packages/tools including bash shell, emacs etc. - http://www.cygwin.com/.

If you want/need to be able to do things like 'ls' or 'grep' in a windows environment then CygWin lets you do it.

    cheers,
    dave

    ew cygwin :/

    nice idea, poorly executed.

if you want your unix hit, try Services for Unix - comes with csh and korn by default, more shells downloadable for it. Nice to have proper ps-based process control over windows...
