Media player not showing the video during playback

Didn't notice what exactly did it but my media player only plays sound with a black (nearly) screen instead of the video. I've recently installed a usb tv stick and a creative x-fi sound card, both of which had some sort of video software with them. Neither of the players i've tried, including mplayer, show the image. This is on videos which I know have worked before.

Any ideas? I presume its something to do with codecs being damaged or summing. Please PLEH!

If you're codecs are crapped, try a player which uses it's own. <VLC Media Player>

agree with Weetabix, if this isn't some flash player movie thing, try another player. VLC is open source and can really play anything (although the interface needs time getting used to)

    The KMPlayer > VLC

Re: Media player not showing the video during playback

Just when I started downloading your suggestions I tried running the tv program and also played around with primary/secondary monitors and the media player seems to be working again. Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll use them next time it goes breasts up.
