You say no, but as I am writing this my UD agent is working as a service. I can write a small guide on how to do this/ upload the needed files if you would like.Originally Posted by joshwa

Here is a guide on how to make UD run as a service.
By having a service, UD loads before anyone logs on, and the icon is available in the taskbar to the first person that logs on. It will also stop that annoying error message when switching between users saying 'Another Instance of the UD Agent is Already Running'
If you don't want to follow the guide and install the program (tempoarily), you can download the files below and follow the instructions on where to place them.
UD Service Entries RAR
UD Service Entries ZIP
Firstly please close the United Devices agent (right click, exit)
To stop any conflicts, please disable the UD screensaver and remove UD from the startup folder (Start>all programs>startup)
In order to make UD a service, a small program called AtYourService is required. You can buy it if you want, or for this purpose, you can download the trial version. Link here.
Once installed, click on the create button, and the service creation wizard appears.
Choose 'Any Program' and press next.
The service name and display name must be 'UD' (without '), When I named it anything else it did not work - it may for you though!
Select the drive and select ud.exe where it is installed (usually C:\Program Files\United Devices\UD.exe)
Select the service startup type as automatic, and select 'system account' in the 'logon as' options. If you want the UD icon in the taskbar, then make sure the 'interact with desktop' box is ticked. If the box is not ticked, UD will still run but the icon will not load.
Press Finish
You should now have UD running as a service!
You can now uninstall AtYourService and the Service *Should* remain. However, just in case it doesn't, it is best to make a backup of the service. This will also come in useful if you want to apply this to any other pc running UD or if you reinstall windows.
Open regidit and navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UD'
Select the UD folder and press File>Export. Save the .reg file wherever you want.
Navigate to C:\Program Files\United Devices and make a copy of 'AysShell.exe' to the same location as the reg file.
If you want to make UD a service on a new machine, all you will need to do now is place 'AysShell.exe' into the United Devices Folder and click on your .reg file.
If you want to remove the UD service from your machine, delete 'AysShell.exe' and copy this into a text document:
Start Copying Here
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UD]
"Type"=-
"Start"=-
"ErrorControl"=-
"Tag"=-
"ImagePath"=-
"DisplayName"=-
"Group"="0"
"ObjectName"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UD\parameters]
"Application"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UD\Security]
"Security"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UD\Enum]
"0"=-
"Count"=-
"NextInstance"=-
Stop Copying Here
Save the document as a .reg file and run it. All registry entries will be removed.
I Hope you found this informative and helpful.
