Go to 'Control Panel' and select 'User Accounts'.
Select 'Change the way users log on or off' and then make sure the 'Use the welcome screen' box is ticked.

you may have inadvertantly installed netbios and you will have to remove it before you will be able to change back to the original logon screen.
For some random reason he is correct about the NetBios thing it does change the login screen.
As does ticking the option too

If the above doesn't work try;
1: Start - Run - Type userpasswords2 - OK
2: Select the username (if there are more than 1) you want to be the main login - Turn off the 'users must enter a username and password to use this computer' option.
3: The Automatically Log On dialogue will appear, prompting you to enter your password.
4: Click OK when you've done.
The changes will take effect the next time you restart the pc.
.NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0 can bugger about with the log on too. I usually just delete the user account that is created after installing these.
