    System restore question

    Hi everyone

Ive been using Vista 64 for a couple days now and am getting sick to death of it thrashing my hard disk (its a raptors - very loud!) I have turned off indexing and superfetch. I think system restore might be the culprit.

My question is is it possible to move where system restore stores all its files to another hard disk i have in the system so it thrashes that drive instead of the raptor? Thanks

    Re: System restore question

I would turn the indexing back on and tolerate the disk activity for now - it will settle down once it has finished indexing. Then she'll fly. If you can leave the machine running overnight, the indexing will complete faster (as it pauses when the machine is being used).

I am not aware of system restore causing such disk activity. I am not aware of how much control we have over system restore, but I'm sure someone here will know.

    Re: System restore question

You could try disabling system restore temporarily and see if you still get the issue, then you would know if it is system restore causing the problem.

I don't think you can change the hd where system restore keeps it's files.

    Re: System restore question

Just let it index the lot. I'm sure it'll stop when it's indexed it. Don't know about the restore though.
