    nVidia GPU folding coming soon!

    Folding@home: GPU news (about GPU1, GPU2, & NVIDIA support)

our daily points total had better double at least with the amount of you that have 8800's and similar

edit: but of course all the other folding teams will be getting the same boost from it, so you have no choice but to join in

    Awesome 9800GTX ftw!

Hopefully it will be more stable than the SMP client. I have tried about 5 or 6 units and have only completed 2. I don't think I will bother with FAH until this comes out or the smp starts to work...

After I lost 2 or 3 work units in 5.91, I moved to 5.92... Its pretty much identically unreliable.

Re: nVidia GPU folding coming soon!

if its anything like the ati client, the "usual" work units take around a 2.8ghz on a 3870 to max out the GPU, i have no idea how the nvidia equiv is going to compare, might be totally different. but it needs to be noted that cpu power will probably be just as important as the gpu (unless your using a 8600 or something daft like that)

    I'm using XP home...

Damn I am still on a 4400 x2 S939, but this will still be better and hopefully more stable than the smp

the 4400 @ stock in my mcpc gets roughly 1500ppd from the gpu client. totally cpu limited so amd or nv shouldnt make a difference

edit: thats with 1 core used. if you can run 2 instances on a nv then it will be quite a bit higher

Does that mean you'll be able to use the SMP and GPU clients at the same time?

I ran one console CPU client and the GPU client for best rate of folding on my dual core (+1950xt).

the way forward would be a quad

but yes, either 1 gpu and 1 cpu, or preferably - if your processor isn't maxing out the gfx card then you can run (well you can on the gpu2 client) 2 instances of the gpu on the same card which will probably end up faster as cpu clients make so few points really.
