    Making movies

    Hi,

I've got a DVD burner and I'd like to use it to transfer some MPEG files to DVD.

Ideally, I'd like to find some software that allows me to select the video files I want to transfer and then compress them suitably to fit them onto the disc.

Does anyone know good software that can do this? Is it free?

Also, is it possible to make VCDs with DVD discs? Being able to fit all that video onto one disc would be very handy. Any know any (free) software for making VCDs on DVDs? My version of Nero doesn't like DVDs at all.

    Thanks.

what version of Nero do you have?

Best tool in the world ever (well nearly) is Adobe Premiere. It has excellent editing bits and can burn your sequences to DVD too although with limited features. Use Adobe Encore to make some whizzy DVD menus and add chapters etc.
