also has anyone here actually used WHS, if so what do you think?

Just checked my Technet downloads and it doesn't seem that there is an x64 version. The OS itself pleasantly surprised me: the idea that you connect all your home clients to the server and use it to manage their backup as well as all kinds of other stuff makes it ideal for a lot of people - a full domain is overkill for most people, but the features of WHS are handy in the kind of environment that a lot of people are in: where they have more than one PC in the house, and it'd be nice to back stuff up and have remote access that's kinda secured.
nope 32bit only. but when 2GB RAM is overkill for most "home serving" its not really an issue in my experience. have a look at www.wegotserved.co.uk if you havent yet, will give you a feel of what it can do
recommended without reservation tho, don't know what id do without it now. worth every penny

HP have released some pretty cool custom software for their MediaSmart servers. Background transcoding of video for streaming and handheld use is cool (granted, the software isn't flexible, but it is useful and does work).
The only down side is they have already dropped support for their first gen models claiming they don't perform well enough for the new software.

There is no x64 version, and I think MS only released x64 support in their power pack or whatever its called recently. It is good as a set and leave, however I needed my Home Server (have a Tranquil PC one as its quieter and uses less power) to do a bit more so opted for Windows 2003 Server. Runs sweet as.
