Wink Just what problems can come from a dodgy Win.XP copy??

Ok, newbies like myself are sometimes seduced by the 'free' part of dodgy s/w.
If I was running a moody version of XP Pro( hmm..) could that be the reason behind explorer.exe probs? And the fact that odd problems pop up - such as no sound in Win Media Player, even when I install V.9?? But Realplayer works....Stuff like that really.

Am running a Xp 2600 Barton o/c by 175mhz, 512 ram. Seems stable and therefore s/w not h/w probs. Memtest for 24 hrs was fine. Any thoughts....?

known illegal copies of windows xp can't be windowsupdated

which means they become a breeding ground for viruses & exploits.

considering it's practically the most important part of a pc, it's worth obtaining legally - it's not like sixty quid for xp home oem is a lot, it's about the cost of 2 games. or if you don't wanna pay for an os, there's a million linux distros out thee for you.

or next time you want to steal parts of your pc, break into someone's house & nick a cpu, at least that's less likely to have problems than nicked software.

i can confidently say that all the software (including os) is legal on my desktop & server boxes.
