    MKV in Media Center

    I seem to be struggling to get mkv files to play in vista media center.
    I installed MatroskaSplitter and they play in media player but when i go to play them in media center it just comes up saying it can't play them.

    I'm using mediabrowser and all the album artwork shows up so vmc knows that they're there. I thought with windows direct (i think) that if they play in one they play in the other.

    VMC doesn't play .mkv files natively. I use ffdshow and matroska splitter - thats all you need!

    You'll also need to do the following registry entry. Paste it into notepad, save it and then change the file extension to .reg then double click

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mkv]
    "PerceivedType"="video"
    "Content Type"="video/mkv"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WMPlayer\Extensions\.mkv]
    "Runtime"=dword:00000007
    "Permissions"=dword:0000000f
    "UserApprovedOwning"="yes"
