Opera to reinvent the web

So apparently tomorrow opera will annouce something super duper. Anyone have any idea what it is?

Opera have used the line 'We've put the internet on a USB stick' so a portable release maybe (available for a long time on portable apps though...). The cloud picture suggests some form of interaction with 'the cloud' as well, so... storing bookmarks etc?

Isn't that around already? My P5Q-Deluxe has something called "ExpressGate" where it loads up instantly and I can access the internet. Surely that isn't reinventing the web...

I'm gonna say it's nothing big and won't wow us. It is just the same ole marketing hype.

Doesn't Sabayon's livecd (probably others too) just have a browser mode? allowing it to boot quickly and have private browsing.

not that the site is really loading for me, but it looks all cloudy and stuff. Looks like its not just something you use to browse other people, its a sort of window into your machine as well.

So I've given it a looksie and yeah, basically you can host various services from your machine. For example you can access my fridge (place to leave postit notes) by going to - http://home.deanlearner.operaunite.com/fridge/

As far as I can tell you dont even need an opera account to post stuff... Here's hoping someone hurries up and tells me how to get a b1GG3R B#p3niz!

well you can use it as a portal to files on your computer and is even a media player/photo album. It doesn't do anything that hasnt been done before, but collecting them together and making it easy for non techy people to use could be useful.

The only use for me would be for a v. large file. Let the recipient have the details and get from me direstly instead of having to find somewhere to upload it to first.

The browser's running well though!

I gave it a try last night, seems to work quite well.

It's nice to be able to easily share files/photo albums on the fly without having to go through external hosting services like Flickr.
