anyone else upgraded ? its a free upgrade if you have an older version http://www.kaspersky.com/kis_latest_versions
1st thing that struck me as a great addition to 2010 is the game mode, full screen will stop it updating or running scans to save you FPS (snuffx should look at that for his bleedin CSS install lol)
and a welcome addition is the safe run application (sandbox)", IE has a shortcut in there as default and launching the "safe" IE7 gives is a nice green glow to let you know its running in protected memory!Using some applications (such as gaming programs) in full-screen mode may lead to the need of disabling certain functions of Kaspersky Internet Security, such as the notification service. Additionally, those applications often require significant system resources, so that executing certain Kaspersky Internet Security's tasks may slow down their performance.
To avoid manually disabling notifications and pausing tasks every time you are launching full-screen applications, Kaspersky Internet Security provides the option of temporarily editing the settings using the gaming profile. The gaming profile allows simultaneously editing the settings of all the components when switching to full-screen mode, and rolling back the changes made when exiting the mode.
When switching to full-screen mode, event notifications will be disabled automatically. Additionally, you can specify the following settings:
Select action automatically. If this setting is selected, the automatic selection of action will be applied to all the components as a reaction even if the Prompt for action option is selected in their settings. So, the user will not receive offers to select an action on the detected threats, as the application will select the action automatically.
Do not run updates and Do not run scheduled scan tasks. These settings are recommended to use in order to avoid slowing down the performance of full-screen applications.
To enable the gaming profile, please do the following:
Open the main application window and click the Settings link in the top part of the window.
In the window that will open, select the Gaming profile section.
Check the Enable Gaming profile box and specify the required settings.
i guess thats ideal for those "dodgy" website you may visit from time to time
it also let me inline upgrade and kept the settings for the 1st timeSafe Run – a new technology embedded into Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 - allows running any programs not in the OS itself, but in the limited virtual space thus blocking access to the OS resources. Safe Run interacts with other program components (i.e. does not function separately). If a virus somehow gets access to the system resources it will be stopped by other protection components, namely HIPS, Proactive Defense and File Anti-Virus. Safe Run in interaction with these components considerably increases protection level against penetration of both known and unknown threats onto your PC.
Technology of the Safe Run component prevents:
the OS from being modified by any software (including potentially dangerous modifications)
malicious programs from penetrating onto your PC through vulnerabilities in the applications, earlier added to Trusted zone
access to the user’s confidential data from unwanted software.
The Safe Run component works both ways: it provides secure Internet surfing and safe launch of any applications, including those received from untrustworthy sources.
Safe Internet surfing (without the risk of computer infection) provides the following possibilities:
using Internet on a daily basis;
visiting untrustworthy Internet-resources where viruses may spread and/or where user’s confidential data may be spoofed;
viewing documents in different formats online (e.g. html-document)
searching info on the Internet with the further deletion of the browsing history
Safe run of applications allows:
installing and running applications received from untrustworthy resources
opening and working with any documents
using networks IRC,IM, e-mail (applications, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and etc.) for private communications and later deleting the message history
