    Found it:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...18455&lang=eng

    I get this, hmm:

    My system:
    http://forums.hexus.net/3xs-systems-...ml#post1844505

SSD SA2M 160 G2 GC (in the picture above).
SSD SA2MH 160 G2 C1 is what Scan's product page says now though for the model number, perhaps mine is an old version? Only from December though, unless I got given one of old stock...

Re: Intel SSD win7 rating dropped from 7.8 to 5.9?

I guess a fail could be caused by older firmware, wrong BIOS mode... err...?

I'm pretty sure its misleading because that is a 34nm G2 drive judging from serial number (the G2 after the 160)

My serial is identical to yours but with 80 instead of 160

I get a green pass, comme ca:

But got the same red message as you before I had the latest firmware (I ran optimizer first to check whether the drive shipped with TRIM firmware). I put off upgrading the firmware for a while due to all the Bricking of drives, but after they fixed the firmware the upgrade was quick and painless with no data loss.

For owners of 160GB drives the firmware also increased speeds I think (not just from reversed degredation but increase in new-drive speeds too), the 80 it didnt as there werent enough flash chips to write to to benefit from the speed increase or something - like how more drives makes Raid 0 faster? Did I mention I'm not an SSD expert?

Ok, I haven't updated the firmware yet, guess I'll take the plunge then. Hope it definitely is fixed now.

I saw that actually, but it's not googleable due to the very poor choice of application name by the developer... CDI means so many things.

great bit of kit, sorry the name was not on the app, it is one of the few tools that shows if TRIM is enabled i believe.

PS i sorted my issue... i formatted and now its back to 7.8 - yes im anal and it bugged me that much

I took the plunge myself fairly recently. No problems and easy to do - well worth it.

yeah the firmware is a must for long term performance or you may as well have brought a cheaper gen1

The gen2 ones are actually cheaper than the gen1 ones, something to do with more factories kitted out to work with 35nm versus 50nm now or something like that I guess.

A 32nm NAND chip is much smaller than a 50nm one for the same capacity, so you can cut more of them from the same wafer. = cheaper to produce.

Re: Intel SSD win7 rating dropped from 7.8 to 5.9?

All done, firmware updated and ran the Intel SSD Management Tools -> Intel SSD Optimizer -> Run from the Intel SSD Toolbox...

Did a retest of Windows Experience Index in My Computer and primary hard disk "disk data transfer rate" didn't change from 7.4 though, still the lowest number.

Was yours 7.8 before updating too, Crazy? What motherboard do you have, mine is Asus Rampage II "Extreme"...

On a slightly related SSD note, be careful upgrading the firmwares on drives that have sandforce controllers as Anandtech has found that speeds are dropping on SSD drives when their firmwares are updated.

More information on this can be found Here

Ah we both have the Intel (he has 80GB I have 160GB, I got told before that the larger SSD drives are actually faster because of how the chips work) drive though not Corsair, unless it's affecting that too...

at least from my experience it doesn't seem to have changed either way, but odd how mine is rated less with the same drive (Intel X-25M G2 160GB) on a higher specced system than what Crazy's using (assuming same as in his signature)

I know, it's SSD related and I thought that the people reading this thread might want to see this information thats just been released.
