Cool Show us your (Folding) rigs

    Hi all,

I've started this thread so that people can show off their Folding Rigs and any mods that they've made to their rigs in the name of a folding!

Many of you have some great rigs dedicated to the cause and I'm sure we would all like to admire them and get some fresh ideas how to optimise our centres of digital origami -a picture speaks a thousand words or so they say.... They also say water and electricity don't mix in our house hold, but I just ignore now...

I've included a template to try and keep some structure to the procedings and guide you. Feel free to suggest any changes if you have any. Don't forget to remove the "Space" that appears in the first tag before the word Color

    Brand/Model/Mhz of GPU(s) -Zotac GTX 480+EK Nickel block@800/1600/2000
    Brand/Model of Motherboard(s) -Asus RIIE
    Brand/Model of PSU - Corsair HX850
Case & Any Mods Done -HAF 932 + 3/8" Water loop with dual rad mounted externally
    The Rig's approximate PPD -10500
    Operating system/Driver version(s) Used - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit/Forceware 197.75
Virtual or Native SMP(s) -Windows systray client v6.30r2

And then some photos showing your little(?) folding beauty...

I'm going to be rebuilding my farm over the next few weeks, so I hope to have some pictures up shortly afterwards. I'm also going to do some pictures of the build in progress in case any of you are interested. I'm looking forward to moving into the Corsair Obsidian 700D case, and moving my server from an antec 900 into my HAF 932. No drive bays remaining in the Antec for my Raid 5 array, or my other watercooled GTX 295 if and when I can get it up and running!

Re: Show us your (Folding) rigs

Dedicated folding rig or part time - Part-time (I turn the PC off during the night, otherwise always on)
    Brand/Model/MHz of CPU(s) - AMD Phenom II X3 720BE 2.8GHz @ 1.225V (0.1V lower than stock, see here)
    Brand/Model/Mhz of GPU(s) - Sapphire Radeon HD 4830
    Brand/Model of Motherboard(s) - Gigabyte MA790X-UD3P
    Brand/Model of PSU - Antec NeoPower 550
Case & Any Mods Done - Naw, vanilla's my favourite Well, swapped the stock Antec TriCool fan to a Nexus Basic - much more silent!
The Rig's approximate PPD - When it's full-whack folding? Around 3600 for the CPU. With my folding time? Down to 2000 or something
    Operating system/Driver version(s) Used - Vista Ultimate 64bit
Virtual or Native SMP(s) - Windows SMP client

    A bit of visual info:

Outside, nothing interesting, plain old Sonata Plus:

Inside, before "spring cleaning" (cable mgmt):

Inside, after spring cleaning (I'm proud of my cable mgmt, was the first time I'd fuss with the cables at all - spent a while removing the 20 (or is it 24, idk now) pin motherboard connector ):

Note the suspended HDD - I've yet to know what HDD noise is

Yes, I know there's some dust there, but currently I'm working on tracking the relation between the dust buildup and CPU temperatures (ofc summer's not the best time, so might have to do it later on, maybe in the autumn). I don't have any proper data, but in the spring I've not vacuumed the heatsinks for around 2 months, and noticed a steady climb in load CPU temperatures from ~40 to ~48. When I removed the fan and vacuumed the heatsink, the next day the temps dropped to ~38 degrees load. So now I'm all up for keeping the insides of your PC clean

Now let someone bring the big guns, a watercooled i7 or something

Use the folding rigs to heat your room before turning on the radiator then you're folding for free essentially.

    Yeah good idea.

You need some sort of 'fan' to move the hot air around the house as well.
