Have been using UH Hosting myself with no problems at all

Am very pleased with their service.

I think they may be a reseller for fasthosts but I'm not 100% sure.

I have been using 1and1 for a couple of years now, and have to say I am very pleased with their service. I write complete solutions for companies, and so going with a seperate server for each company was a must to secure customer and C/C details.

When you sign up with this guys for a complete server - you get exactly that. You can install whatever software you wish on the box, and they never ask for any license information etc. You basically get MS terminal services to the box, and all the other 1and1 niceties such as domain management and another great feature - the ability to administer reverse DNS - a must for a properly configured mail server.

All in all I only every ran into one downside - where they would not give me additional IP's on an existing server. They have thankfully now recitified this so I give them 10/10.

If anyone is interested, or wants any further details - please get in touch

The best anywhere, very good pricing structures. Second to NONE support! Me and many friends use this and would recommend them to anyone!

EDIT:- They've got appallingly worse now (and I wish we could SMTP mail aswell, and be allowed to have as much as we like for SQLs -or within 100MB storage as databases only 5MB allowed . They've stacked on adds now and have really rather gone downhill from when I signed up.

You could use trap17 if you like posting in forums (just copy your hexus posts)!

    But both are free.

Nice and cheap, £160 for a couple of gigs webspace, 60gb bandwidth and WebHostingManager. Excellent support; asked them to move large files and databases about for me numerous time and they've done it quickly, longest wait was about 2 hours and that was just because it was about 8am over there. Pretty active community.

Im looking for a basic webhost. As far as i can tell from here is that UH is best. I will be going for thier most basic package £20 a year. Is that ok and can i have a few domains all pointing to one web site? Also what does a database do (very simply, i guess i dont need one)

I say hosting-unlimited - I've been with them since november, and never had a problem. no outages, their support is brilliant - plus when I request DNS changes, they have no problems reloading the zone file as and when they need to. there's even a note on my account now to have them put a dns dump into my root dir every time I request a change so I can validate the change!

*edit - unlike webmaina who are awful now - and 34sp.com who are just too expensive!*

really? how come? Im with them. I havent had any issues, but they seem ok. Was looking at changing my hosting for no real reason, but they do the best deal I think.

lack of support - missing admins, and I'd ordered and paid for an additional 500mb of storage which was never actually added to my account

I'd be very interested in seeing what the common price for around 30 gig per month of bandwith is on a 1U co-lo deal

I've had prices very from around £1200 to £2600 plus vat per year.
    It is Inevitable.....
