Web Design, I was bored, what do you think?

I was bored yesterday and was in a graphical mood so I decided I would try and do a web template for half life 2, so what do you think? Its watermarked as its something I will probably sell when I finish my site for my ghraphics projects....but I just wondered if we have any other people who fiddle with graphics when they are bored.

I got a Doom III in PSP right now, and I have an intention of finishing it today, but it depends if I fall asleep first heh

Biggest problem with the Doom III one will be the fixed size. If the user resizes their screen how will the navigation look ?

Also, if the text in the downloads, screeenshots section is longer than one line it will look a bit naff as the background will tile

Overall they are excellent but static images never quite show what will happen in an HTML layout. Good work though

Overall the site design and layout is clear and concise, but that Doom III logo is awful. If you're going to change the perspective on a graphic, make sure that it aims into the page instead of out of it (helps direct the user's eye into the page instead of off it). That top bar is a little empty too, or maybe it's just a little too dark for me to make out any of the details.

Just out of professional interest, I always find the creation of the design to be the quick bit, it's the slice and dice and converting it into html that is the laborious aspect. Do you do it by hand, or use software to do the leg work?

Az - Thanks for the comments, these specific designs are not meant to be a fluid layouts, I woud adjust the template to fit the needs of whoever buys the templates and then I would obviously, as you say have to account for the stretch factor.

ibm - Each of those templates took me around 9 hours to do on and off with breaks (and there were a few of them lol) the slicing and dicing is easy, that part only takens me about 40 minutes for a template as complicated as these....the logo you are right is not great but it needs to be replaced now anyway as I have discoved the logo has changed.......

Sorry for being a bit n00bish but how did you code them, just straight HTML or did you use CSS or something similar?
    Very nice templates anyway

I don't touch tables anymore nor would I ever. Thankfully i've seen the light and I use CSS layouts now. I find they're much much better than tables as you can position anything anywhere and it's easier when it comes to dynamic pages.

They are not coded, they are litterally just the PSD files, I have not sliced and diced it yet.....

its just takes patience and layers, lots of them, I think theres around 70 in the doom template and around 90 in the half life template.

I looked at screenshots of both games and tried to take ideas from both and replicate them, I like how they turned out but with that much core information the recreation in PSP or Photoshop is actually not too difficult....
