I'm looking for a Instant messenger like that of WinPOPUP from Win95/98
to use at my work for our staff, one of lads was going to write a app but we just aint had time recently, the staff use winpopup, but those on XP and 2k have problems with "Console Message"

You mean like the built-in Messenger service?
(WinPopup exists as Win9x doesn't have a built-in Messenger service.)

If it's running on your clients then try a NET SEND from the command line to one of them as a test.
No GUI as far as I know, but you can target machines, users or the entire domain using NET SEND.

Type NET HELP SEND at a DOS prompt to see the syntax.

Oops, sorry were you asking for a full-blown IM chat program, or a utility to make (status) messages pop up on users' PCs?

The Messenger service is purely for making a pop-up window appear on the users' desktop with your text in it, if you want them to be able to reply it's not much good
