looking for website making advice

Hello

Do you know anything about setting up websites?

I want something free, where different people can post, a place for links, maybe different forums and a members only area.

Basically figure I am starting with nothing and am looking to not have to pay for anything. I also know almost nothing about setting up websites.

If you want a Log-In page for each member, something like a free host that may be with your ISP or somewhere like Geocities will not suffice. You are going to need something that can support this sort request i.e an ASP server that will allow you have databases to store the users etc. If you are after this try www.somee.com and sign up for there free banner add service. Creating this sort of service will be quite technical though and may require you to learn the language.

If its just a forum you are after...give PrivatePyle's link a try

hosting from somewhere like web-mania.com is only aout £30 a year...hardly expensive.
then www.phpbb.com very good free forum software that you can add loads to (www.phpbbhacks.com)

Thank you for the suggestions. Do you know if those are ones where I could try making one to just try figuring it and fiddling with and then delete the test site before making the one I want? That is something I would like because I am still figuring out whan exactly I want and where I want it so I would like to have the freedom to set something up but not have to leave something I don't want there.
