I take it there are none out there. I asumed that if everything was run off an external source, they wouldn't know it was happenening. Would just be normal data going through the server
If your bandwidth usage is different to most other people’s traffic it will stick out, assuming anyone looks. Do many people download large amounts of data in this way?

If you have signed a computer use policy, I would read that. I bet it says only for work use.

I'm sure NO company would want their staff downloading (possibly) 'illegal' content through their network. Let's face it, the majority of BT use is for 'illegal' reasons...

its not a good idea - any firm with a decent ammount on bandwidth should have a good enough firewall to block any unknown ports like the high value ports used by the BitTorrent protocol. Data doesn't flow through the server as such , but over the network ( unless you use a proxy server , in which case you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting it to work )

If I cought one of my users with anything to do with torrents traceable to their machine ( via cached data , browsing history or firewall log ) they would be in for a whole world of trouble.

I know of someone who does this so it is possible but he doesn't work in the same building as me so obviously he could be lucky and i'm not.

He said he gets to a torrent site through a translator, downloads the torrent to his portable hard drive and downloads it in a program i can't remember.

I'll give it a go but if it works i'll only do it once a month or once every other month

It simply boils down to whether you feel it is worth risking your job for ben_wade?
