    Really Odd Outlook/SMTP problem.

Hmm this one has me stumped, all of a suddne yesterday one of my accounts stopped sending mail, outlook throws it toys out of the pram and says:

Task 'mail@domain.com - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Obviously on the above i have replaced the email addy The point where this gets really wierd is its only this account, ie. mail1@domain.com don't work and yet mail2@domain.com does, the email is my own and its done through a private server in the USA and I have gone on WHM and repaired all the mailboxes etc etc.

Anyone got any ideas? I can receive mail ok on this domain btw...

Is it possible that you have changed ISP - or that this server has implimented some sort of auth security that your not authorised from, or your trying to send mail through an SMTP server that your not authorised for ?

doesn't sound like a strange problem to me, sounds like somethings changed and your not authorised. - or the server that account is hosted on has a problem

The server is mine, there are no problems with it, I even deleted and recreated the account through WHM.

The address 1@domain.com works but this particular email address of 2@domain doesn't, in other words one on the the same domain works and the other doesn't, I havent changed ISP's, but apparently I should have been switched to 2mb NTL but even that doesnt look like its happened yet.

have you checked the mail server logs ?

what does its say its doing.

    what mail server software ?

Also from your notes it appears to be when your sending mail this is happening, it that right ? or can it not get mail from the machine either ?

Am I right in thinking that outlook is directly sending to an SMTP server or is it connected to an exchange server that then tries to send teh email?
Do you have multiple mail acounts in outlook? Maybe 1 mail is sending one way and teh other another way.
Maybe the mailbox at teh other end is corrupted.
