    WinXp themes

how do i change them? my bro got himself a nice looking one - minimalist but nice looking...thing is he's gone to japan. I discovered a DLL, called uxtheme.dll, on a disc of his which could be something. I just want to get away from the nasty green button/blue bar and change it to something else... a nice burgandy red maybe?

Replace uxtheme.dll or use neowin auto-patcher to replace it and then you won't need to have digitally signed themes

Do a google search for uxtheme.dll. You should find loads about it there.
AFAIK the modded uxtheme.dll needs to be specific for the Service pack you are using so your bro's one might not work with sp2.

Edit - Here is how to do it courtesy of Directhex

Are there any good quality ones yet?

Last time i looked they appeared to be designed by 12yr olds with no sense of shape or colour

i much prefer the windows original themes, they just seem nippier.

And seeing as it's an official Microsoft theme you can just chuck it in your windows\resources\themes directory with no tweaking required
