    Windows xp File sharing premisions

I recently turned off "Simple file sharing" on my desktop to turn on advanced sharing.
This seems to have turned off all network access to any shares on my computer.
So I decided to re-enable simple file sharing and forget about the advanced, only to find the same problem...
I can not access my desktop over LAN anymore.

Its not an IP or TCP/IP problem, MS printer & file sharing is enabled so I'm out of ideas!
I have many directories shared but not accesable. does any one know how to get around this. Maybe a command for reseting all the file shares....? Please help...
